Role Purpose

The Senior Marketing & Content Officer is responsible for the creation, scheduling, and publishing of engaging content across Theatre Royal Plymouth’s digital and physical channels. Working under the Marketing Manager (Brand), the role manages TRP’s social media accounts, website, FOH and car park screens, and contributes to organisational campaigns, email marketing and digital content production. The postholder ensures TRP’s voice is consistent, creative, and impactful, supporting the delivery of campaigns and wider organisational initiatives.


Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead on the day-to-day management of TRP’s social media channels, ensuring content is planned, scheduled, and delivered to a high standard.
  • Act as day-to-day guardian of TRP’s digital voice, ensuring all social media and digital outputs reflect the organisation’s values, reputation, and strategic positioning.
  • Demonstrate creativity in content creation and digital storytelling, ensuring TRP’s social media, screen content and emails are distinctive and reflective of the brand.
  • Oversee TRP’s FOH digital screens and car park screens, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and aligned with campaigns and organisational activity.
  • Create and manage digital content (copy, graphics, short-form video, photography) for TRP’s channels in line with brand guidelines.
  • Build, test, and send marketing emails in support of campaigns and organisational initiatives, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Write compelling copy in line with TRP’s brand tone of voice to support organisational initiatives and campaigns.
  • Support the Marketing Manager (Brand) in delivering content strategies for organisational campaigns (fundraising, memberships, Creative Communities, Artist Development, F&B, workshops).
  • Collaborate with Marketing Officers to ensure production campaigns are supported with strong social media and digital content.
  • Monitor engagement across TRP’s social media and digital channels during working hours, responding appropriately and escalating sensitive issues when required.
  • Identify risks or issues in TRP’s social media or content activity, taking corrective action where possible and escalating to the Marketing Manager (Brand) when required.
  • Maintain TRP’s digital asset and photography library, ensuring content is organised and accessible.
  • Keep up to date with emerging digital platforms, content trends, and technologies, making recommendations to enhance TRP’s digital engagement.
  • Provide content and digital expertise to colleagues across the organisation, ensuring their projects are effectively represented across TRP’s channels.
  • Ensure all content reflects TRP’s values, tone of voice, and commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

Principal Tasks

  • Schedule and publish social media content across TRP’s channels, ensuring consistency of tone and brand.
  • Oversee digital advertising content on Meta, Google Performance Max etc. both internally and via media buyers.
  • Creating exceptional digital content (video and photography) to support the deliverance of TRP’s core objectives.
  • Oversee the organisation of digital equipment and media studio.
  • Draft copy and create or edit content for social media, email, and venue screens.
  • Produce and schedule FOH and car park screen content for all productions, campaigns, and organisational activity.
  • Build and deliver email campaigns, working with the Marketing Manager (Brand) to ensure messages are targeted and effective.
  • With the Marketing Manager (Brand) support and deliver organisational campaigns.
  • Collate and share analytics on the performance of social media, email, and screen activity, providing insights and measurable outcomes to the Marketing Manager (Brand).
  • Work with the Design Manager to ensure content outputs are visually consistent and brand aligned.
  • Liaise with external content creators and suppliers (photographers, videographers) where required.
  • Participate in TRP’s social media community management strategy and be included in the out of hours on call rota.

Accountability

  • Guardianship of TRP’s digital voice and reputation across social media and content channels.
  • Quality, consistency, and effectiveness of TRP’s social media output.
  • Timeliness and accuracy of FOH and car park screen content.
  • Quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of marketing emails.
  • Growth and engagement of TRP’s online communities, measured through reach, responsiveness, and engagement metrics.
  • Contribute to the success of production and organisational campaigns.
  • Maintenance of TRP’s digital asset library and archive and TRP website.
  • Collaboration with Marketing Officers, Managers, and the Design Manager to ensure campaign and brand objectives are met.
  • Contribution to TRP’s social media community management, including participation in the out of hours on call rota.
  • Proactive identification of risks, trends, and opportunities in TRP’s digital activity, with recommendations for improvement.
